C'mon and take a little ride with me. Take a little trip down a major southern interstate. Blaze a trail from DC to Atlanta, and be amazed at the wonder that is America's Twisted Garden of Sculpture...

Not far from I-85 near Gaffney, SC, you'll find a permanent celebration of the bounty of the good earth, of Gaffney's pride in its harvest, and in its best sons, who till the soil, who...

Oh, alright, it's a butt. It's a BUTT. It's a big orange butt-on-a-stick, which also conveniently supplies water pressure to the surrounding area.

During its construction in the early 80's it was apparently painted with a fleshy-pink rust resistant paint, and caused quite a few accidents, hence the SCDOT posted the helpful sign "To View Peach, go to Exit 92".

One has to wonder how this...item got through planning meetings. Was no model shown? Maybe everyone was a little too polite to mention...or a little too tipsy to notice! Perhaps the city fathers had it in for the legislators downstate in Columbia?

Anyway, visitors are encouraged not to climb the butt and - ah - just don't climb the butt, OK?

You get close to this thing on the road, you can't miss it. Just don't wreck the car. Remember: "To View Peach, go to Exit 92"

Something about this guy just screams "Clean Restrooms Here!", don't you think? He originally was mounted on the pair of steel posts seen here. He must've fallen off - likely, 'cause he looks like he's had waaay too much to drink.

The truckstop where this guy resides declined to do anything of the breadth and scope of the Gaffney public gallery, but this "symphony in fiberglass" beckons to truckers and....more truckers to pull off (so to speak) and enjoy whatever it is he's enjoying.

The guy stands next to a sign that says "Scales". Geez, they just make it too easy...

He's right out on the service road, just to your right as you head south.

This unfortunate portrayal of Dan'l Boone greets patrons at the Daniel Boone Village Official Tourist-Trap-and-Mildewed-Motel.

I guess maybe he's zipping up, or perhaps finishing a spirited rendition of the National Anthem. No telling.

I don't know what's in his right hand - maybe he's cleaning his gun. Yeah, that's gotta be it. Keep that sucker clean.

This same guy used to appear in a fiberglass menagerie near Dahlonega, GA - he really gets around. I wanted to post that one too, but never did get around to it.

Interestingly, they all look west.

To visit, I-85 South to Hillsborough, North on 86, 1 block, right.

We're Open for Business and very friendly. That's the takeaway from this set of concrete legs splayed about next door to the "Artistic Head to Toe" salon in Henderson, NC.

These legs aren't easy to find (though they're quite easy to get in between once you get there...thanks to the path). It was a 20-or-so minute ride off the interstate to locate them, making a best-guess from Google Maps and a GPS heading.

I particularly like the strategically-planted foliage. The garter features colored lights - this must be a sight at night time.
